There was another one earlier in the book, about how HP and Intel's new RISC processor would be coming by the end of the decade and would replace x86, but that it'd be too late and PowerPC would already be dominant by then.

I mean, he wasn't wrong about PowerPC beating HP and Intel's new "RISC" processor (he was talking about Merced, better known as Itanium), but...

I'm reading this book by Frank Soltis about the development of the AS/400, that he wrote in 1995 and was published in 1996, and there's some downright laughable predictions in hindsight.

An example:

"For example, the PowerPC 604 running at 100 MHz offers 50 percent more performance than the Pentium running at the same speed, and the PowerPC is less expensive to produce. It seems the x86 family of processors may be nearing its end of life in the next couple years."
